Hello! I'm Jennifer Bright, and I am an artist.

It took me a long time to be able to say that.

I wasn't one of those children that know what they want to be from the time they are five. Although I went to college for six years, somehow, I never received a degree, much to my parents continued dismay. I was twenty-five, and I had no idea what I was going to do with my life. It wasn't until I moved to Austin, (May, 2002), that the notion of being an artist, became a real possibility for me. I had to go through a few years of therapy, first, and endless encouraging words from my peers, before I would show anything I made to anyone not in my immediate circle of family and friends. When I finally did, I took a portfolio of my real paintings and pounded the pavement on the trendy South Congress Avenue, here in Austin, TX, going door to door to all the 'hip' shops, trying to score a show. I faced rejection so many times, but eventually my perseverance paid off, and I met the woman that owns Pink Salon + Gallery. She hosted a two month long solo show for me, (my first ever!), there at her gallery and acquired a few of my paintings, additionally, for her private collection. I will always be thankful to that woman, to my family and friends, and to my therapist, for all the belief, and pushing. Since that first show, I have not looked back, nor do I doubt that I am following my Bliss!."

Now, more than ever, I create Art with a positive force in my life. It is who I am, what I do, and how I see the world. Through Art! It is how I express myself. Art is how I cope. Art is how I survive. I work mostly within three forms of expression: Photography, Sculpture, and Painting. The majority of my works are totally abstract, and Nail Polish is my painting medium.

I don't really see why the artist should say anything, because the work is supposed to speak for itself. So what ever the artist says about it is like an apology, it is not necessary."

"Imagination is more important than knowledge."
    ~Albert Einstein

"Do not fear mistakes ~ there are none."
    ~Miles Davis

Follow your Bliss."
    ~Joseph Campbell

I love these quotes. They give me strength and courage when I am under heavy fire, mine or other.

It is my wish that you enjoy my artwork. I would love to receive comments on them or on the site in general, should you be so inclined. If you are interested in purchasing a work of art, please contact me, and we can work out the details. Thanks!

Jen
